The Foundry Hotel

“The Foundry Hotel was an experience in itself. As part of Hilton’s Curio Collection, it had a stylish boutique vibe with a mix of industrial and modern designs. It is located right in downtown Asheville, so we were able to walk to restaurants and shops close by. We were attracted to The Foundry because of its architectural design but one of our favorite parts of our stay were the staff who were attentive and welcoming and offered thoughtful touches such as house made tea during check-in.”

Other tips about visiting Asheville: “Visit off-season during the spring when the weather is beautiful, but the crowds are low.”

Kimpton Hotel Arras

“Not only do I appreciate IHG hotels because of their affordability and comfortability, but most of them have some of the best restaurants and bars. I personally love District 42 at this hotel, and the bartender was so attentive. Not only was I told the story of how the Fitzgeralds came to visit the city, but he also made me a very famous drink that apparently, they drink. The story behind it, the experience, and the drink itself were all phenomenal. I truly recommend it.”

Other tips about visiting Asheville: “Go out and explore, there are so many things to see and it’s such a nice city.”

Baked Pie Company - Asheville reader rec.jpeg

Baked Pie Company

“This is a pie restaurant. They have a different variety of pies each day. There are both sweet and savory flavors to choose from. The best is getting a pie flight. It is three slices of your choice and an option to get a scoop of ice cream. When you think of a flight you think small sample size. Oh no…these were regular size slices and had to take some to go. If you are a pie person this is a must go to....”

“I was looking for a place that the locals love. When we asked around this restaurant came up a few times. They have 2 locations. We arrived at the original location, and everyone was super friendly. My husband ordered your Momma's Big Fat Booty Bowl, I had the Fried Chicken with honey. You can choose your levels of sweet to heat. All of the sides we had were super yummy as well. It was the BEST chicken I have ever had.”

Addissae

“Among the amazing restaurants in Asheville, Addissae stands out as the only Ethiopian restaurant. The injera is made of Teff which is gluten free. The owners are always on site making sure everything is perfect. The flavors are unique. All main dishes come with sides.Authenticity is key so you are encouraged to use injera to scoop your food, but they will provide utensils if you prefer. Despite all the choices in Asheville, I choose Addissae frequently”

“Taking our trip to the Arboretum was perfect way to spend the day for the entire family of all ages. There was something there that delighted everyone. Plenty of space for the kids to run and the grandparents to take their time. There is something beautiful and unexpected there in every season. And, it is affordable way for a family to enjoy time together in Asheville. It is located not far from the Blue Ridge parkway. So, if you time it right, you can watch the sunset over the mountains!”

Asheville Pinball Museum

“My children loved it. They even did some unplanned learning about gravity and force while we were there. The craftsmanship and different styles of pinball machines are remarkable. Really makes parents look cool to preteen boys and that's hard to do. I really enjoyed bonding and having fun with my kids.”
