3 Footwear Brands that Give Back

These brands are stepping up and giving back in a big way so you can kick up your feet and feel good knowing that your purchases are supporting a great cause – all while making your feet happy.

1) Conscious Step

We can’t stop gushing over these super soft and cute cotton socks that give back to a variety of causes. The best part? YOU get to choose from 17 different causes so you can give back where it matters most.

And the charities that they support are like a “who’s who” of nonprofits – an absolute dream list of do-gooders including St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Habitat for Humanity, Best Friends Animal Society, The Trevor Project, Conservation International, United Nations Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women and NAMI (ahem, Conscious Step, meet Clearly Balanced Days 😊) and many more.

Now excuse us while we go help save the world, one (conscious) step at a time…

💡 Winni tip: There are a few ways to save. First off, we love the monthly sock subscription where you can choose a new pair each month for $13 (or $12 if you prepay). Or you can bundle 5 or more pairs and save 20% here. Not ready to commit? First time customers can save 15% with code MYFIRSTSTEP.

There’s a reason we featured TOMS in our very first edition of Winni Wednesday. They are one of the original brands to build a “give back” into their business model. They’ve donated more than 100 million shoes over the past 14 years, and they have a new give back strategy. They are now donating 1/3 of their profits to grassroots organizations – specifically in the areas of disaster relief, ending gun violence, and providing mental health resources. As a B Certified Corp, they are also serious about sustainability and fair labor.

While they are most known for their original slip-on Alpargata shoes, for winter we love their new boots (and booties). They have styles for men and women, including the water-resistant, shearling-lined Makenna Boot and the Everly Boot (which is just too cute) for women, and for the guys, we love the waterproof Ashland Boot.

💡 Winni Tip... Without spending a dime, you can start giving back right away. Join their free rewards program and earn points by entering your birthday and connecting on social. Then you can start donating those points to support disaster responses (for hurricanes & wildfires), ending gun violence, and mental health resources. You can also use points to score discounts on shoes (because let’s face it, your wallet needs help sometimes too 😉).

3) Allbirds

In its first 2 years, this sneaker brand sold more than a million pairs of shoes. And for good reason. Founders Tim Brown and Joey Zwillinger launched their simple, yet beautifully designed, comfortable sneakers made from merino wool, and the rest was sneaker history. Their commitment to give back to the planet is impressive. Their website lays out their multi-step approach to combat climate change and reduce their footprint.

They’ve since expanded their line to include other designs. We’re excited to try their machine washable classic ballet flat made with eucalyptus and a flexible fit with odor control. For men, these water repellent Wool Runner Mizzles are perfect for any weather.
