5 Brands Giving Back for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Chances are you or someone you know has been affected by breast cancer. In fact, 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime. (BreastCancer.org)
At Winni, this cause is very near and dear to our hearts as our very own Susette Andaya-Gomez was diagnosed with breast cancer last year (read Suzy’s story here).
That’s why we wanted to bring you brands that are giving back to breast cancer patients and their families where they need it most (also see our article on Kendra Scott) – including supporting research, early detection, and prevention.
1) Lilly Pulitzer
Print with purpose… We are in love with Lilly Pulitzer’s new Purrposefully Pink Collection in honor of breast cancer awareness. Lilly is donating $35,000 to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) which will fund 700 hours of critical research. This brings their 4-year-total to $195,000 donated and nearly 4,000 hours of breast cancer research funded.
What to buy… We are fangirling over this entire collection, but we cannot wait to wear the Elsa silk top to work and rock the Cassi dress on our next vacay. For comfort, we’ll be cozying up at home with the adorable knit pajama top and pants.
2) Conscious Step
A step in the right direction… Ethically produced sock line Conscious Step offers super-soft organic cotton socks that let you choose from 17 different causes to support so you can “wear what you believe in.” For Breast Cancer Awareness Month, they partnered with the Keep a Breast Foundation which educates young people on how to prevent and detect breast cancer.
What to buy… This 3-pack of ankle socks features burgundy, pink and light pink socks with extra arch support and padding for comfort, and an embroidered heart to spread the love.
3) Vineyard Vines
Comfort for a brighter future… Vineyard Vines is giving 20% of all their sales from this limited-edition collection to Bright Pink – a non-profit organization that focuses on the prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer.
4) Grey State
Stylish and sustainable… Looking for a woman-owned & operated clothing brand that supports the fight against breast cancer AND focuses on sustainability, clean energy, and gender equality?! Look no further. This October, shop pink at Grey State, and they will donate 30% of the proceeds to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).
5) The Breast Cancer Site by Greater Good
For the greater good(s)… Find all your pink ribbon gear (and more) to support breast cancer awareness all year round at The Breast Cancer Site by Greater Good. Your purchases help fund free mammograms and care for women in need.
