7 Veteran-Owned Businesses You’ll Love to Support
We teamed up with one of our favorite veterans (read more about him below) to find some amazing brands that not only are veteran-owned, but that also give back to others. Start shopping from these brands today and support our nation’s veterans, not just on Veterans Day, but all year round!
1. The General’s Hot Sauce
We knew we were in love when we saw this veteran-owned brand’s tagline, “A Great Sauce for the Greater Good.” And then we saw their unique packaging and fell even harder. 😊 The General’s Hot Sauce is an all-natural hot sauce made from American-grown peppers and bottled in glass grenade-shaped bottles with metal dog tags.
In addition to supporting American farmers, a portion of their profits support various military and veteran organizations. Check out their charity 3-packs, and you’ll actually get to see which organization you are supporting when you shop.
💡 Winni Tip … They offer free shipping plus, all orders over $50 get 10% off with promo code 10OFF.
Did you know that 1 out of 4 military spouses are unemployed and seeking work? This is due in part to the fact that it’s difficult to hold a steady job when they need to relocate every few years. Spouse-ly founder and military spouse Monica Fullerton is looking to change that. She developed this online platform where you can shop for the products and services offered by military spouses, veterans, and first responder families. Think of it like Etsy, only better because you are supporting the families of those that protect us.
There are so many great products to choose from, and even services from tax prep to design, but we really love Spouse-ly for one-of-a-kind gifts this holiday season. ❤️
3. stubble + ‘stache
We literally jumped out of our seats for joy when we discovered men’s skincare line stubble + ‘stache. Not only is it veteran-owned, but this B Certified Corporation also donates 20% of their net profits to organizations advancing mental health and environmental causes including funding rainforest conservation efforts and donating products to regional food banks. Oh yeah, and it’s all made in the USA and cruelty free. Talk about giving back!
Founder Nicholas Kamaze founded the company in honor of his good friend and fellow special operations Marine that was killed in combat. Read more about his story here.
4. Combat Flip Flops
After serving multiple tours in Afghanistan, Army Rangers Matthew Griffin and Donald Lee embarked on a new mission – to make high-quality, sturdy sandals and use the profits to support the education of Afghan women.
The Combat Flip Flops team had a lifetime goal of funding 100,000 girls to be literate when the nation descended into chaos with the Taliban takeover. They continue to support the Aid Afghanistan for Education (AAE) refugees as they reassess their efforts in the hopes to continue to fund women’s education in a safe and effective manner.
The brand offers men’s and women’s flip flops in addition to other footwear, apparel, and accessories.
This black-owned, veteran-owned, and woman-owned performance beverage line is leading the way in CBD infused drinks and just launched a new line of non-CBD drinks as well.
Pro Football Hall of Fame Running Back, Terrell Davis teamed up with former Miss Kansas and CEO Megan Bushell, Chairman Beau Wehrle, and former Navy SEAL Eric Frohardt to help motivate and inspire others to “defy” the odds that impact that the communities they serve.
That’s why they give back to organizations such as the Disabled American Veterans Organization, the Center for African American Health, and the National Association of Women Business Owners.
6. Devil Dog Pet Co.
This veteran-owned and family-run pet chew business features some of the most popular teething toys for pets. You’ll find elk antler dog chews, Himalayan dog chew, bully sticks and more.
We especially love that every 4- to 6-weeks, they choose an animal rescue to promote on their Facebook page, and then they donate to the rescue directly. We counted more than 18 rescues across the world that they’ve donated to so far.
7. Veteran Roasters
There are several coffee brands owned by veterans, but this one touched our hearts. Housing insecurity affects thousands of veterans in the United States today. Veteran Roasters was founded to help give them a place to work and a path to regain their lives after service.
With every purchase of their coffee, you are helping to provide a job opportunity to an at-risk Veteran. They even make a commitment to their employees to provide them with a living wage and housing assistance among other resources.
Just take a look at their team page, and you’ll be inspired to give their coffee a try!
A special THANK YOU to our contributor & retired Army veteran, David R. Thompson, Jr.
Ever since I can remember, my brother has been my hero. He enlisted in the Army at a young age, and I just remember how proud my mom was of him and his service to our country. He served for more than 20 years, mostly in Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD). He was deployed to Albania, Kosovo and Iraq (twice) and traveled the world on VIP missions with the Secret Service. He even supported local, state and federal agencies when potential explosive situations would arise. He is retired now and loves spending time with his amazing wife, two beautiful daughters and his newborn granddaughter. But one of his other passions is online shopping … specifically on Amazon. So, when I asked him for some veteran-owned brands he loved, he delivered. Thank you to my brother the hero and online shopping guru. I love you. ~ Darlene
